    Organizer Institutions: Symposium will be organized with the cooperation of the Turkish National Defence University-Fatih Institute of Military History Studies, Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), and Romania Ministry of National Defence-Institute for Political Studies of Defense and Military History.
     
    Aim and Scope
    The protracted Ottoman-Russian conflict, spanning from the mid-16th century until the onset of the First World War, exerted considerable political and military influence on the territories of Romania. This symposium seeks to discuss the role of Romania within the context of the Ottoman-Russian conflicts with a particular focus on the pivotal aspects of Turkish and Romanian military history. In addition, the symposium aims to emphasize the impact of the geography and the population of the region on the Ottoman-Russian wars. This endeavor will contribute scholarly discourse on Turkish-Romanian military history, and the symposium book will provide an opportunity for in-depth analysis and exploration of shared historical memory.
